Welcome to the CFB DFS Triple Option here at Paydirt! This is going to be a weekly article aimed at giving thoughts and notes on three important aspects of the CFB DFS slate. This article is NOT used with the projections models here at Paydirt (Found here), but it will still be valuable even as a one-off piece of content. While the focus is on Draftkings, the content is applicable to Fanduel as well.
DFS Slate Overview
- Slate ownership is laser-focused on Malik Nabers (WR, LSU) and Luther Burden III (WR, MIZZ), both wide receivers from the LSU vs. MIZZ game. Nabers is projected at an impressive 63.70% ownership, while Burden III trails slightly at 43.81%. When it comes to the quarterback position, Jayden Daniels (QB, LSU) is in the spotlight with 31.53% ownership. However, his high price tag has led to a noticeable bump in ownership for value quarterbacks like Garrett Shrader from SYR.
- Considering team stacks, LSU and MIZZ seem to be the popular choices based on the ownership distribution across their players. However, the ownership predominantly leans towards the QB/WR combination, suggesting that exploring other skill positions from these teams could provide a unique edge in your lineups. Syracuse, with players like LeQuint Allen and Garrett Shrader, also appears to be gaining traction. Given the potential high-scoring matchup between UT and OU, players from the UT side could serve as high-upside plays for GPPs.
- Devontez Walker (WR, UNC) offers exceptional value at a mere 3000 salary but still boasts a 10.77 median projection and 38.06% ownership. However, the more intriguing option for GPPs is Carlos Hernandez (WR, WSU), who at 3900 salary offers a 12.4 median projection at slightly lower ownership.

CFB DFS Final Thoughts
Given the high concentration of ownership around the LSU/MIZZ matchup, especially in QB/WR combinations, incorporating some running backs or lesser-known wide receivers might diversify your lineup and give it a unique edge. Furthermore, while the spotlight is predominantly on the LSU/MIZZ and SYR/UNC matchups, exploring overlooked options, especially in potential shootouts like KU/UCF or OU/UT can offer a distinctive advantage as well.
