NHL Slate Breaks with YCMMAT 11-14-2023

A couple general thoughts today

This slate is weird. Nine games, with 8 starting at 8pm est or earlier. The lone late game is at 10:30pm est and it’s Florida at San Jose.

Florida is going to have a TON of ownership. This is likely to happen more than a few times this year with San Jose being terrible and them having the latest game.

Something I mentioned in the discord in the last few San Jose games is being aware of your late swap options when you have a lot of late ownership in the mix. It’s a little clearer to see how this is beneficial when it is only one game.

Say for example you have a FLA1/DAL3 stack. And Dallas 3 maybe scores one goal or none at all. With the amount of Florida players in all the lineups – your bad/dead DAL3 lineup isn’t going to be helped a lot by Florida scoring a lot of goals. However, if you swap to a SJ line or PP stack – and they somehow miraculously score 3 or 4 goals – that may be enough to get that lineup to a cash.

If the lineup is dead already then there is very little harm in doing this swap but you do want to be careful with it depending on where you are in the standings because it is still more likely that the Florida stack scores well – so you need to exercise a bit of judgement if you have a lineup that still has GPP winning potential.

Shiftchart

Is a great resource for showing line and power play assignments in games.

May notice an unfamiliar name in the Defensmen PP units today

I thought to myself “who died and left Scott Perunovich in charge of the STL PP”?? It seemed weird to me.

Looking at Shiftchart and sure enough there he was last game!

Now he’s only $2500 so seems pretty good! And he is ok for $2500 –

However, you should be aware of a couple of things.

  1. Ice time – around 14:00 minutes a game.
  1. PP – later on in that same game Krug went back to PP1 and on those two PP the blues scored on each one.

This is something where DFO may not necessarily reflect who is actually on PP1 until either later today or not at all.

Slate Specific Thoughts:

Last week the Flyers AND the Oilers fell flat against the Sharks.

Maybe that will soften the ownership on Florida tonight? A hearty chuckle all around.

A man can dream!

Option A – Top 7 from each full line (7 from each of FL1, FL2, FL3)

For Pivots off the FLA1/FLA2 – I would look to WPG1, DAL1 or BUF1.  Hard to say no to the DAL3 juggernaut if you need a cheap line. Also, if I know the Flames at all, then MON3 to watch Sean Monahan torch his old team.

Option B: Top 20 lines by median projection.

As noted above, I would remove Scott Perunovich and add in Torey Krug for the Blues PP and also add in Dougie Hamilton as per usual.

Good luck out there and hit up discord with any questions!
