That takes a great deal of luck and a tiny amount of skill. That lineup was FLA1/DAL1 with FLA G(James Reimer!) and two uncorrelated D.
All this to bring me back to talking about lineup construction last time.

Slate Specific Thoughts:
Eight games tonight, which to me is probably about as perfect as an amount of games as there could be.
As I talked about last time, I don’t include fourth line guys, I looked today and nothing on the third line was of note either.
Even if your given projections are low on a line, I do like to include at least one line from each team when optimizing. Hockey is random and losing teams do score goals (See Dallas above for 100K). So I’m including all the first lines. Yes SJ again – hey they scored last game…

You don’t want all of these second lines but what stands out to me here? What am I looking at to include or exclude?
EDM2 – Going down 0-2 to start the season Edmonton has shifted their lines around putting Leon on EDM1 with McDavid. I’m happy to use EDM1 even though they are super super expensive because Leon/McDavid/Kane are all on the PP so even if the lines get split up the talent can still get there.
EDM2 as it is with Foegele there? If those lines get scrambled in game, I don’t like how that can play out, especially at $15000 for the whole line.
CAR2 The other thing that sticks out to me is CAR being a, relatively overpriced $14,400 for the given projection. However, knowing they got roughed up by Anaheim I looked at the lines they used last game via Shiftchart.
I see that Kotkaniemi got pulled off that line in the third period. If Carolina has no morning skate and we don’t know lines I’m hesitant to throw that one in the mix.
Now if you want to get SPICY, AHO was moved onto that line in Kotkaniemi’s place. If Carolina rolls that line again – small if – it could be advantageous as that is a pretty potent line at only $17000 – Aho/Necas/Tuevo
Since that is the late game though, you may want to be around to see warmup lines to make adjustments if necessary.
LA2, BUF2 NYI2, WPG2, TB2 – is a nice one to pair with EDM, and LOL SJ2 if you want to get weird.
20-Max Thoughts
Talked a bit last time about 3-max strategy.
Picking one line and building around that line.
My thoughts on a 20- max strategy are fairly similar.
Although using one line for all 20 lineups is too much. TOO MUCH!
I typically would do one line for 4 or 5 lineups.
As a top group I might do the top projected stacks EDM1, BUF1, TB1, COL1 and then add in VEG1 as a strong line that will be lower owned as they might be a touch overpriced. Sometimes I think people get too precious about not using the ‘best’ plays of the day. I’ve never been one to overthink things.
For your forward groupings you might end up with something like:

You don’t necessarily want all the same 3-3 stacks with different D and G. Really want to see what your optimizer spits out with pairings for the top groups of lines.
Goalie
One thought here since the projections seem to love Mackenzie Blackwood as a +250 dog.
Be careful when using an optimizer as you may get way more than you bargained for. If he is going to be ~15% owned in all contests it’s not something where I’d have 100% of him.
But then again, goalies are stupid.
